September through May, Eagles’ Nest is offered to children, first grade through third grade after school from 3:00 – 5:00. In the 2022-Winter 2023 school year, Eagles’ Nest is being expanded to include a second day on Thursdays.
When the children arrive after school, they are offered a healthy, tasty snack. They are given the opportunity to work on a creative activity, play table games, play outside or play in the gym. Every child has the opportunity to work on a tablet during their time at BYI Eagles’ Nest. BYI Eagles’ Nest coordinator, “Miss Diane” Bennett plans fun, creative activities for the children while adult volunteer mentors interact with the children and assist them with their homework and projects.
As a part of Eagles’ Nest, Photography, Pottery and Yoga are offered. For these programs the initiative leaders are Lisa Leronis, Photography; Cynthia Tschudy, Pottery; and Daryl Allison-Busch, Yoga.
The mission of the Bellaire Youth Initiative is to provide a safe, fun and nurturing environment where youth and their peers meet to relax, learn, share and be themselves in a setting supervised by dedicated volunteers.
